Block international roaming and ERR block features

International roaming blocking features can be used if customers do not want talk, text, and data options while roaming internationally.

What's Included

Blocked

  • Depending on the blocking feature selected, blocking prevents roaming usage at the line, product, or BAN level including cruise ships.
  • The Block Data SOCs (BINTWEBGS, BINTWEBBS, BINTWEBGF, BINTWEBGB) block all data while roaming internationally in countries and destinations that are not part of the 215+ International Roaming options.
    • Customers in any of the 215+  International Roaming countries and destinations are not charged for data (so these blocking features will not block data in those countries).
    • Voice calls are allowed and charged $.20 a min.
  • BZINTLBLK: Sub-level feature that blocks all talk, text and data usage in countries and destinations that are not part of the International Roaming included 215+ for Business and Government accounts only. Voice calls are allowed and charged $.20 a min.

Not Blocked

  • The SOCs for North America plans (NABINTAS, NABINTAP, NABINTAB) don't block Canada or Mexico usage.
  • These SOCs are meant for customers with plans that have Canada & Mexico included.

Set Expectations

Review the following advisements with your customer before changing to this plan:

  • Customers can make voice calls and incur voice and/or text international roaming charges to non-U.S. numbers when using Wi-Fi. Make sure customers are aware that charges may occur.
  • Block Data in countries/destinations not included in International Roaming 215+ only:
    • SOCs only block data in countries and destinations that are not part of the International Roaming included 215+.
    • Customers can use data in International Roaming countries with these features as long as they do not have the Global Flat Rate.
  • North America SOCs available only for use with plans with Canada & Mexico included.
  • Blocking may not work in certain excluded countries.

The following SOCs are incompatible with International Data Passes. Customers with these blocking SOCS will not be able to purchase international data passes when roaming internationally unless the blocking SOC is removed.

  • BINTALLB, BINTALLF, BINTALLS, BINTLALL
  • NABINTAB, NABINTAP, NABINTAS,
  • ROAMBLK, ROAMBLKMI (cannot be removed as these are ERR SOCs)

Resources

These features block service while traveling in another country.

  • Don't remove optional or included features. Blocking SOCs disable the ability to create usage and charges. Removing optional features may cause charges while roaming.
  • Remove the blocking SOC for customers who need to use data while roaming. Inform them they may be charged for data roaming while in countries/destinations not included in International Roaming 215+.
