Set Expectations
- Due to Music Freedom partner licensing and availability, some services are unavailable for use while in Mexico and Canada.
- Mobile Hotspot:
- Mobile Hotspot usage in Canada or Mexico doesn't impact Mobile Hotspot usage in the US.
- Mobile Hotspot usage deducts from the high-speed GB bucket while in Canada or Mexico.
- Mobile Hotspot usage in Canada or Mexico also counts towards Fair Usage limits.
- Service isn't intended for extended or permanent use in Mexico or Canada. Extended use may result in being flagged as Extreme Roamer Reduction (ERR) support.
- International calling experience:
- If customers have this feature plus Stateside International, they get Stateside International rates when calling internationally from Mexico or Canada.
- Customers with this feature or a North America plan who call internationally from Mexico or Canada are charged international long-distance rates (discounted international rates if they have Stateside International).
For customers with legacy plans (non-North America)
Adding this feature and Stateside International will not provide discounted international calling rates if roaming in Mexico/Canada and calling other countries.
- Standard international calling rates will apply.
- To get discounted international calling rates while roaming in Canada and Mexico, you must change to a Simple Choice North America or ONE plan.
- If a customer had any promotional discounts from a previous plan, their promo may not carry over with migration to ONE Plan. Before migrating to a new plan, check the customer's current promo discounts and discuss impacts and options.

Usage details
- If GBs (or max high-speed data allotment) is exceeded, impacted lines reduce to speeds 128kbps or 256kbps for Plus/MAX versions.
- The GBs of high speed data is shared between Canada and Mexico.
- The high-speed GB data resets each billing period.
- If the customer is on an unlimited high-speed plan, T-Mobile automatically sends an alert at 80 percent and 100 percent of usage while traveling in Canada and Mexico.
- There is not an option to manually set up usage alerts.
- Customers can check overall data usage by dialing the short code #WEB#.
- International data pass impacts: International passes do not override the Canada and Mexico included data bucket, but rather jump ahead in priority.
Usage impacts for limited high-speed data bucket plans
- If you are on a Simple Choice legacy plan or another plan with Canada and Mexico included but does not have unlimited high-speed data, then high-speed data used throughout the US, Canada and Mexico is deducted from your monthly high-speed data allowance.
- If you are on a legacy plan with a high-speed data maximum (i.e. 4 GB, 6 GB, 10 GB), your data allowance is shared across US, Mexico, and Canada, but you only have up to plan GB allotment high-speed data in Mexico and Canada combined.
Customers who reside in a bordering city to Canada or Mexico and picks up those networks
- You will be alerted via text when you are roaming on Canadian or Mexican networks. If you don’t want to use these networks, we recommend turning off roaming in your phone settings unless or until you travel there. This will limit your phone to US network coverage.
- Options if customer runs out of high-speed data
- You can buy an International data pass for extra high speed data. However, the customer should wait until they get to their GB allotment because pass data is used before plan data.
