AT&T postpaid (consumer and small business)

  • Customers can obtain their account info through the myAT&T app or AT&T online account, 24/7.
  • Port-out PINs are good for 4 days on consumer accounts and small business accounts.
  • The account number is on the bill. It is not the phone number.
  • There are two types of account numbers for AT&T:
    • Unified Account Number: If the customer has multiple services with AT&T under one bill, inform them that they should be using their Wireless Account Number.
    • Wireless Account Number: Account number assigned to their cellphone services.
  • Bundled bills only: The 12-digit account number can be found in the account summary section. Conference the call with the customer and AT&T during business hours for the passcode. It is a 4-digit PIN number. Provide contact information outside of operating hours.
  • Number Transfer PIN (NTP) are not supported for prepaid accounts.

AT&T sends 6B responses on accounts they have deemed high risk for fraud for their postpaid customers. If the port received a 6B-Port Protection error, tell the customer to follow instructions in the text message sent to their AT&T phone with the PI PTN.

If Remarks say: Fraud Protection - Customer must OK port, 866-563-4705. Modify & resend SSN/Tax ID Incorrect, follow the steps below:

  1. Ask the customer if they have responded to AT&T's text message with the code sent to them.
    • Yes: Go to the next step.
    • No: If it has been more than 4 hours since the OSP sent the text message, you must cancel the port and resubmit it. Ask the customer to either stay on the line or respond to the AT&T text message within the next few minutes in order to continue working on their port request.
  2. After the customer responded to the text message, modify the DDD_T through a port modification and resend to AT&T.
    • Immediate port number activation: Resend the port. A pop-up notification with the correct due date and time of 2 hours 45 minutes displays.
    • Delayed port number activation: Update the DDD_T to match the date and time the customer would like the port to complete and activation of the number.
  3. If they have further questions or claim they did not receive the message, provide the following information:
    • 'In order to complete your port, we will need to contact AT&T Mobility's Global Fraud team at 866-563-4705 for assistance.'
    • Ask for permission to conduct a 3-way call.
      • AT&T's Global Fraud team hours of operation are 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. CT.
      • If the call is outside of hours of operation, provide the number instead of offering a 3-way call

AT&T sends a 6B response for Consumer Postpaid customers that have an invalid Number Transfer PIN. Customers can generate the 6-digit Number Transfer PIN via the myAT&T app, by dialing *PORT (*7678) from the AT&T device, or from their myAT&T account online.

  • Online with my AT&T:
    1. Go to People & Permissions in your myAT&T profile. Sign in, if necessary.
    2. Click Wireless.
    3. Scroll to Transfer phone number.
    4. Click Request a new PIN. Your Number Transfer PIN displays on the screen
  • On myAT&T app:
    1. Sign in to myAT&T app.
    2. Click More, Manage profile.
    3. Click People & Permissions. If you do not see the option, you may need to sign in from a browser.
    4. Scroll to Transfer phone number.
    5. Click Request a new PIN. Your Number Transfer PIN displays on the screen.

6P - Port Protection with remarks WAL enabled BAN: This response is generated when a postpaid AT&T account has the Wireless Account Lock (WAL) option enabled. All port outs are blocked until this option is disabled. The customer can manage this through the Myatt app (Profile & Settings). More information is available at att.com/wirelessaccountlock.

 

AT&T Wireless business/government account

AT&T large business/government accounts are distinguished as a Premier Account. This is the difference from a small business account. For small business, see "AT&T postpaid (consumer and small business)" above. 

Customers must generate a Number Transfer PIN online or by calling Business Care. To generate online, customers must login to their Premier Online Account

  1. Go to your AT&T Premier account and sign in.
  2. From the Account Management menu, click Port Out (Transfer) PIN.
  3. Enter a billing account number or a wireless number.
  4. Click Search.
  5. Click Create a PIN.
  6. A success message displays with the Port-out PIN and its expiration date.
    • This PIN is also emailed to the requestor.
    • Number Transfer PIN(s) generated through their AT&T Premier online account are good for all numbers on the account.
    • Number Transfer PINs are 6-Digits long and valid 14 days.

To generate over the phone, an authorized user on the AT&T account must contact Business Care (800-331-0500). The AT&T Port Center cannot assist with generating the Number Transfer PIN for business/government Accounts. Direct them to Business Care.

 

Business Account Lock option

To protect customers against unauthorized port outs, AT&T has an account lock option for our business accounts.

  • This is in addition to the current process for port-out validations.
  • When business account lock is on, a port-out request receives a response of RR 6P Business Account Lock, with remarks "Business Account Lock."
  • Business customers can manage their account lock through att.com, Premier, or calling Business Care at 1-800-331-0500.
  • Telecom managers and users with primary account access can manage Business Account Lock.

T-Mobile / Metro use 6P as a response to help customers protect their customers from unauthorized port. If 6P is received from T-Mobile / Metro, with the account BRP or AU on the line:

  • Conduct a three-way call with the customer and OSP to remove port protection.
  • Once the carrier removes port protection, submit a Sup 3.
  • After submitting the request refresh status in order to see updated status from the OSP.
  • If OSP sends another RR error, verify with the customer the correct information.

Postpaid

  • Account # can be found on bill on upper right corner ending in -00001. Do not type the dash.
  • Customers can generate the 6-digit Number Transfer PIN (NTP):
    • From the phone
      1. To request your NTP, dial #PORT (#7678) from the phone.
      2. Complete verification in the (IVR).
      3. The customer receives a free Verizon message with a secure link.
      4. Tap the Generate PIN button from the "Create Your Transfer PIN" screen.
    • Online
      1. Sign in to My Verizon.
      2. Click Account > Account Settings > Security Settings > Number Transfer PIN.
      3. Click Generate PIN.
      4. Select email address or MDN SMS to complete the verification process.
      5. Select Allow upon receiving the email or text message.
      6. If the customer receives a text message, select Allow > Generate PIN.
      7. If the customer receives an email, approve it and select Generate PIN on the "NTP" screen.
    • Verizon app
      1. Log in to the app.
      2. Tap Account on the bottom of the app.
      3. Tap Edit Profile and Settings.
      4. Tap Number Transfer PIN.
      5. Tap Generate PIN.
  • Remove Number Lock
    • You can turn off a Number Lock with the My Verizon website, app, or by calling Customer Service at *611. You must be an Account Owner or Account Manager to turn off a Number Lock.
    • Online
      1. Go to the Verizon Number Lock  page. Sign in if requested to do so.   
      2. Select Off next to the number(s) to unlock.   
      3. For your security Verizon sends an authorization code to confirm. Select the number to be sent the authorization code, and tap or click Send Code.   
      4. Enter the authorization code.
      5. Click Submit and then OK.   
      6. Click Save Changes. The mobile number(s) you unlocked can now be ported to another carrier.
    • Verizon app
      1. Open the menu and tap Account. Sign in if requested to do so.   
      2. Tap Account Settings.   
      3. Tap Number Lock.   
      4. Tap the switch off (black) for the number(s) to unlock. The mobile number(s) unlocked can now be ported to another carrier.

Prepaid

  • Account number is an alpha-numeric and 12 characters long, i.e. A01234567890.
  • Customers can generate the 6-digit Number Transfer PIN (NTP):
    • From the phone: Dial #7678 from your phone to request your Number Transfer PIN.
    • Retail/store: Retail Store Rep validates the Account PIN/Secret Question Answer & check customer’s government-issued photo ID and generate a NTP.
    • Customer Care: Care can generate an NTP for the customer.
  • Find the account number:
    • My Verizon app (Not registered)
      1. Open the My Verizon app.
      2. Tap Register, then Prepaid Mobile.
      3. Enter the prepaid number and account PIN.
      4. Select Send me a free text message.
      5. Tap Continue.
      6. Enter the verification code sent to the phone.
      7. Complete the Create a Profile steps.
      8. Tap the menu (three lines) in the upper-left corner.
      9. Tap Account.
      10. View the account number. It starts with A.
    • My Verizon app (Registered)
      1. Sign in to My Verizon app.
      2. Tap the menu (three lines) in the upper-left corner.
      3. Tap Account.
      4. View the account number. It starts with A.
  • For Automated SMS with Port Fallout Case: If a port request is submitted with an incorrect or missing Number Transfer PIN (NTP), Verizon system rejects the request using 6B port fallout reason code. An NTP is automatically generated and sent to the device via SMS.

 

6B response for Number Transfer PIN or 6P response for Number Lock from Verizon

 

Verizon sends a 6B-Port Protection error for wireless postpaid and prepaid accounts with an incorrect PIN. These customers are required to generate a 6-digit Number Transfer PIN to be used in the PIN field on the port request. This PIN is good for all porting PTNs on the account.

 

Business/Government accounts additional details

 

Verizon Wireless business account lines require the existing Number Transfer PIN (NTP) process for port-out validation.

  • The customer can generate the NTP on their online account or through Business Contact Center Agents.
  • An NTP for a business account is a 6-digit temporary PIN generated for individual lines on the accounts which expires after 7 days. (By contrast, a consumer NTPs is generated at the account level for all lines on the account.) A business account can have multiple NTPs but only one per line.
  • Account PINs are no longer used for port-out validation for business lines.
  • The NTP is entered in the PIN/Password field on the Wireless Port Request. If an incorrect NTP is provided on the port request, it returns the message '6B - VZW Number Transfer PIN needed OR Incorrect?'
  • Multi-line port requests do not receive port confirmations, because only one entry is available on the wireless port request electronic form for the NTP and each NTP will be different. The following message indicates that port-out requests for multiple lines with different NTPs need to be sent individually: '1P - MULTILINE PORTOUTS ARE NOT ACCEPTED?'
  • Generate NTP using Verizon Business Portal:
    1. Sign in to the My Business website or app as an Account Owner/Manager.
    2. Go to Manage > Account > View wireless numbers.
    3. Select the wireless number you want to transfer.
    4. Under the Device Information section, select Number Transfer PIN.
    5. Click Generate PIN.
  • AutoPort services:
    • Verizon offers a service called AutoPort for business and government customers. This service works like our Port Out Widget in that a PIN/password does not need to be verified. Customers can request this service by calling Verizon.
    • Note: We have seen issues where customers are porting large volumes of numbers over and some of them are not selected for AutoPort. Verizon must select each line individually. In these situations, only the customer can request numbers be set up for AutoPort with Verizon. Offer a 3-way call with customer and Verizon to help facilitate this.
  • Verizon SPOC (Specific Point of Contact): Verizon assigns their business/government customers a SPOC (Specific Point of Contact). This is a person who is familiar with the business/government account and can help with providing information for port outs. If the customer doesn’t know who their Verizon SPOC is, they can call Verizon and ask

Claro Wireless postpaid and prepaid customers need to generate a Number Transfer PIN, which is used when validating and authorizing for TN port-out requests.

  • When a response to a port out request of POSTPAID and PREPAID customers indicates, ? password/pin required or incorrect? customer needs to contact at 787-793-1258 for authentication and request the Number Transfer Pin.
  • The system generates a random six-digit number that is stored in the CUSTOMER ACCOUNT INFORMATION and is valid for 7 days. After 7 days, the NTP Code expires and a new NTP Code should be generated and requested by the customer.
  • For validation of any other customer information (account number, billing address), the customer needs to contact: 787-775-0000.

6B - Remove Account Lock at Cricket Wireless. This error occurs when customers have turned on the Cricket Account Lock service. Until this feature is turned off, all port out attempts are blocked. Once the service is deactivated, port-out requests validate normally. Customers can manage this feature through their myCricket app.

To turn off account lock:

  • Log in to the MyCricket app.
  • Open Settings.
  • Under Security, toggle off Account Lock.
  • Click Continue.
  • A one-time PIN sends to your mobile device. Enter the code into the verification screen to turn off Account Lock.
    Note: For multi-line accounts, a PIN sends to the mobile device that that is selected within the app at the time you toggle off Account Lock.

6P - Number Transfer PIN required or incorrect. (NTP is only for consumer customers.)

  • If the Number Transfer PIN provided is incorrect, the port request receives a resolution required response with the error code of 6P - MDN has service provider port protection. The 6-digit Number Transfer PIN is entered in the PIN/Password field on the Wireless Port Requests. Cricket’s NTP is good for five days.
  • Customers generate the 6-digit Number Transfer PIN by dialing 611 from their Cricket device or calling Cricket at 1(800) 274-2538. If the customer needs assistance in generating their NTP, instruct customers that there are two ways customer can get their NTP:
  • Requesting NTP via IVR
    1. First is by dialing the short code 611 using Cricket phone
    2. Customer would need to follow the prompts to generate the NTP
    3. Customer should receive their NTP via SMS to their Cricket device
    4. For customers who do not have their device anymore, please direct customer to the Cricket store to complete identify verification.
  • Requesting NTP by Calling Cricket
    1. Dial 1-800-274-2538
    2. Follow prompts to get to Care
    3. Customer must be able to provide Account PIN to authenticate and receive NTP from Care agent

  • Customers have self-serve options to generate the NTP.

This is a security features and response sent to prevent unauthorized port out when a security Lock is turned on. To resolve this with the OSP account holder on the line, offer to call Metro to remove the port protection.

Error code '6B - Number Transfer PIN Needed or Incorrect':

  • To generate a transfer PIN using the My Spectrum app, you can do the following:
    1. Sign in to your Spectrum account or the My Spectrum app.
    2. Select Services.
    3. Select Mobile.
    4. Choose a line on your account.
    5. Select Get Transfer PIN.
    6. Choose a contact method to receive your passcode.
    7. Enter the passcode.
    8. Select Continue.
    9. Select the mobile phone number you want to send the transfer PIN to.
    10. Select Send and Continue.
  • The transfer PIN will be generated and appear on the screen. It is a six-digit code that is only valid for 72 hours.

    • If the customer's phone is an original TracFone device, the account number is the IMEI of the device. From the dialer, enter *#06#. From the Device menu:

To turn off Line Lock, the customer must:

  1. Open the TracFone My Account app or website, and log in to your account.
  2. Click My account or look for Account Management (3 lines in the upper left side).

  5. Click Confirm.
  6. A 'Two step verification' screen appears to enter a verification code.
    • A verification code is texted to you.

  4. Select the number you want to transfer to a new carrier. It must be active number on the account.
  5. Scroll down the page and select Transfer your number, cancel this line for details on obtaining your secure PIN by text.

  • One PIN works for multiple lines on the account and is only valid for 24 hours.

  • Customers have two separate Xfinity account numbers, one for Internet service (15 digits) and another for mobile service (10 digits). To port their number, we need the 10-digit mobile account number.
